I always look forward to venturing out in the wake of a snowstorm. The landscape is just beautiful in its white coat and the chill in the air makes the critters active. Such was the case this past Saturday.
I arrived at my photo destination as the sun was climbing over the horizon and immediately spotted two ferruginous hawks on the ground next to each other. Unfortunately, one departed immediately but the second, seen here, gave me time to get some pictures. After posing on the ground for a bit, it took off, heading toward the early morning sun that did a fantastic job of lighting up its face and the surrounding snowy landscape.
