Golden sunrise illuminates young Bald Eagle

The golden hour. A term used by photographers for the brief period just after sunrise and just before sunset when the light is considered the best. The low angle of the sun makes the light travel farther turning it much softer than at other times of the day. That is why I and others are oftentimes heading out the door in the dark with the goal of finding our photo target at just the right time. Such was the case with this image.

My son and I started our photo tour before dawn, arriving at our chosen location as the sun’s effects were just beginning to show. Soon we found this beautiful bird, sitting proudly, seemingly waiting, watching and welcoming the warmth of the sun as it climbed above the horizon. Together, the three of us soaked in the moment with the humans in awe of the beautiful eagle and the eagle enjoying all the attention. Taken November 8. 2015 in Longmont, Colorado.
