Yes, this image is indeed of a bald eagle although it may not look like it. Its seemingly odd coloring is due to the fact it is still relatively young – around three years old.

It isn’t until the eagle is about five years old that it will completely have its more recognizable dark body and wings and the distinctive white head and yellow beak. While perhaps not as beautiful as it will be when fully mature, this young one looks pretty neat in its own right.
