Oh yeah, this big boy was all that and a bag of chips! 😀
After four days in Medicine Bow National Forest, I had yet to see a moose and was pretty frustrated. On our last full day I ventured out at dawn again, not holding out much hope. Well, I am glad I did because I was rewarded with a total of eight moose, all within a few miles of each other.
Most notable were a group of four bulls hanging out together, this being one of the two biggest. They were clearly wary of me but tolerated my presence as they grazed their way across a meadow and into the woods.
This was one of the final shots I got before they disappeared into the trees, the big guy giving me a parting glance. I whispered, “thank you,” as I almost always do after sharing time with our planet’s amazing creatures and rode back to camp with a big smile on my face.
