Kind of a fun, unusual encounter from this past weekend. Driving through St. Vrain State Park, I notice something out on the thin ice of one of the ponds. Looking closer, I realize it is a muskrat and it was eating something. Two more times it dived off the edge of the ice, disappeared briefly, and returned with more to eat (presumably some sort of aquatic plant). It was pretty to watch and not a creature I usually get to photograph.
