With some time to spare early in the morning, I paid a quick visit to one of the bald eagle nests I monitor. It had been more than a month since I was last there and as I expected, this visit showed that the two young eagles had fledged. One was hanging out in a tree not far from the nest, I did not spot the other. This one, let me watch it for a while then decided to take flight, giving me a nice launch and flyby. The light was kind of weird due to smoke from regional wildfires but I was happy to get a chance to see one of the young ones before it heads off to make its way in the world on its own.
