Pretty poor images due to the distance to the raptors but the action is too cool not to share.
Sitting around the campsite late Friday afternoon, I was watching the osprey fish. A bald eagle arrived on scene and one osprey did not appreciate the larger bird’s presence and began attacking it. An aerial battle ensued with the osprey making four attacks in an effort to drive off the eagle.
It was crazy fun to witness and in the end, the osprey was successful as the eagle decided to go elsewhere. Osprey and eagles generally don’t get along as they compete for the same resources and eagles have been known to attack osprey nests.
