Playing peekaboo with a baby grizzly bear

What a cutie! I promised pics of baby bears so here you go.

Taken in Grand Teton National Park on our last full day there, this little one is one of three cubs of the year from grizzly 1063. They and mom were hanging out in a very public spot allowing for a fun morning watching them. The little ones though were so small, I could only get a look at them when they stood up as they were shorter than the sagebrush.

Mom gets her name from her assigned number and tag / collar but fans also call her Fritter or Bonita. She is a somewhat late bloomer when it comes to motherhood as she is seven years old now and this is her first batch of cubs. Historical average for first time moms is six years old.
