
If you visit the Great Plains, you are sure to hear this pudgy little bird singing. Its call is distinctive and one that makes you well-aware of its presence. They are quite common, usually found sitting on fence posts or in small bushes, calling out to whoever will listen.
Interestingly enough, they are the state bird for six states: Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, and Wyoming. This one, gave me some fun looks this past Saturday.
