Going back to a few weeks ago to this unexpected encounter with not just one or two but three great horned owls. I suspect all were recently fledged but had not yet entirely dispersed from their nest area. All were kind enough to stay quite visible and were willing to be photographed.
This particular one was more out in the open than the others, hanging out on a small, nearly bare tree. With the sun’s golden light just having come over the horizon, it made for a fantastic scene.
