Bald eagle parents keeping watch, awaiting their new arrivals

This past weekend I checked on my favorite bald eagle nest. The action was light and it is clear that they are still incubating eggs and awaiting the first hatch.

When I arrived, Dad was on first watch and in the nest on the eggs while Mom hung out nearby. She soon left and after a few minutes, returned with some grass to add to the family home. They then did a ‘changing of the guard’ and Dad departed and hung out nearby.

It would be my guess that within a week the first egg will hatch and activity will pick up as the parents then have to work harder to feed little mouths.
