Hello, world! First look at bald eagle eaglet

I figured this couple had at least one hatch but wasn’t sure I would be able to see it. After an hour of waiting, Mom began shifting around and I was sure I was seeing something moving in front of her. Sure enough, there was a bobblehead!

It is tiny, almost certainly less than a week old. I only got to see it briefly and only one. Hopefully there are more in there.

This is my “secondary” nest that I watch, a new one for the year. As you can see from Mom’s “dirty” head, she is young, likely just turning five years old. I wasn’t sure they would be successful given her youth but clearly they have been.
