While this Bald Eagle had its back turned to me, it kept close tabs on me and was well aware of my presence. Image taken this past Saturday at Cherry Creek State Park, Colorado.
Launch!
One of the few decent shots of Bald Eagles I got today. Went to Cherry Creek State Park, Colorado where lots have been seen lately. Unfortunately with our recent cold here the lake is pretty much totally frozen over and most of the eagles appear to have moved on in search of open water.
Sunrise sentinels
Taken at St Vrain State Park in northern Colorado, two Bald Eagles were keeping watch as the sun rose last weekend.
Even eagles have to itch
Even eagles have to itch! Well, either that or this guy was giving me a bit of a “middle finger salute” – you decide which. 😉
A very brave – or very dumb – squirrel
A very brave – or very dumb – squirrel in northern Colorado this past Saturday. 😉 This male bald eagle seemed quite amazed that a squirrel would dare to come quite close to it. Surprisingly enough, the eagle did nothing and simply watched the rodent as it walked around the tree.
Nag, nag, nag
A female Bald Eagle appears to be giving her mate quite an earful yesterday in Longmont, Colorado.
Bald Eagle love birds
My mission today was to find bald eagles and I was rewarded heavily. Four were seen at St Vrain State Park although the lighting was less than optimal and limited opportunities. Going into Longmont I then found a picture perfect pair. They initially were on two separate trees but the female soon came and joined its mate.

Bald Eagle performs picture perfect flyby
A couple weeks ago I had the privilege of witnessing a pair of eagles drive off a third that they felt was intruding on their territory. As the event unfolded, the two aggressors performed many flybys as they circled and took stock of the interloper.
I captured many worthy images of them as they flew only about 20 feet over my head – this is one of them. To view the complete gallery of their flybys, see below the main image.

Can’t I just enjoy some peace and quiet and watch the snow?
Get off my tree!
“Get off my tree!” Cold and snowy here in Denver, Colorado today but that didn’t stop me – and the wildlife. This Bald Eagle didn’t seem very happy with having to share its part of the tree with a Red Tailed Hawk. The eagle was extremely vocal in voicing its displeasure.
