Hanging out with the bald eagles at Cherry Creek State Park

March 9, 2014 by Tony Leave a Comment

It won’t be long before the bald eagles leave Colorado and head north so I have to take the opportunities when I can.  Back down at Cherry Creek State Park on a very cold morning they were quite compliant with having their photos taken.

The last sunrise of 2013

December 31, 2013 by Tony Leave a Comment

The last sunrise of 2013 proved to be an absolutely gorgeous one.  This image was taken at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge just before the sun peeked over the horizon.

An ‘industrial strength’ sunrise

December 18, 2013 by Tony Leave a Comment

The area I work is normally not particularly photogenic but on this morning it worked out well.  The sunrise was absolutely brilliant and the crane and other industrial equipment worked well as props.  My only regret is that I had to take this with my point-and-shoot rather than my SLR.

Golden sunrise illuminates Old Glory

November 9, 2013 by Tony Leave a Comment

The United States flag flies proudly outside my house every day of the year.  On this morning, two days before Veterans Day, the sky was illuminated brilliant orange at sunrise and helped to light up Old Glory.

A peaceful, colorful sunrise

December 10, 2012 by Tony Leave a Comment

Our for a morning walk in the north Denver area.  The sky was painted in pastel colors and a calm pond below reflected the trees and colors nicely.

The sun will rise again

February 4, 2011 by Tony Leave a Comment

A photo that has special meaning for me. Taken on a record-setting cold morning in Elephant Butte, New Mexico, this was the day after my dad passed away. I was raw with emotion and incredibly depressed as I left the hotel that morning to gather with my family. The scene of the sun rising was one which I will never forget and I well remember telling myself, “Well look. The sun did rise again.”  I miss my dad so much to this day but his memory and the memory of this scene help.

Glorious rural Colorado sunrise

December 19, 2010 by Tony Leave a Comment

Taken in Weld County, Colorado, the morning was bitter cold but as the sun rose between these trees my heart warmed. Colorado has the most amazing sunrises and sunsets and they occur at all times of these year. The bare trees, having shed their coverage for the winter, were darkened as the sun rose in brilliant orange.
