Posting this today in memory of Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy Heath Gumm, end of watch January 24, 2018.
Three years ago today, Deputy Gumm was gunned down in the line of duty, an event that devasted our community and indeed, the state of Colorado. My dad served 26 years on the Denver Police Department and as such, I have always had the greatest respect for the men and women who put on the badge and stand on that thin blue line.
When I captured this image this past Wednesday at a local pond here in Thornton, I was absolutely ecstatic. The symbology of our national emblem and the flag mean a great deal to me and I was honored to have been able to capture it, not only for Deputy Gumm but for all law enforcement officers across the nation.
