Chamois in the Swiss Alps

Something a bit more ‘natural’ from our recent trip than what I have shared thus far.

I did not have high hope for getting pics of any critters but took along the right gear just in case we came across something. We were spending a couple of days in Zernez, Switzerland and the Swiss National Park (Schweizerischer Nationalpark) was nearby. We saw one chamois on our first trip into the small park but it disappeared before I could get a pic.

The next morning, we had a bit better luck, coming across four of them. I only managed a couple of decent captures but was pretty excited to get something new.

These members of the goat family are actually pretty small, similar in size to a domestic goat here in the U.S. and both the males and females have horns. They can be found across the mountains of central and southern Europe, usually at high altitudes in the summer.
