Hummingbird nails the landing

From a recent camping trip in Colorado’s high country. This male broad-tailed hummingbird staked claim to our feeder, doing its best to ensure no one got to share the food. Most of the time it hung out in a nearby tree, diving in when needed to chase interlopers off. Here, it decided to pick a more direct observation point, right on the shepherd’s hook that held the feeder. A fun shot showcasing that beautiful throat and those little wings and feet.
