
Well, this was a bit of a surprise and not a bird we normally see here. I happened across two mute swans on a small pond in Boulder County. Unfortunately light was horrible and they were a good ways away so the pics aren’t extraordinary but it was a fun little encounter.
Mute swans aren’t native to North America having been introduced from Eurasia in the mid-nineteenth century. They are actually considered an invasive species as they can over-graze areas and displace native waterfowl.
