That is exactly what mama bald eagle was doing for one of her eaglets as she took flight.
On my visit to this nest, both adults spent most of their time just hanging out nearby. I saw the two eaglets initially but one must have decided it was nap time as it did not pop up again.
However, one stayed quite visible, keeping watch on its parents and the surrounding area. At one point, the female decided it was time for some nest maintenance and departed to grab a branch from a neighboring tree, giving me this cool capture of it departing head on.
