While I got better pictures of the Great One by plane a few days before, I was still excited to see it again as we headed south along the Parks Highway. Seeing North America’s tallest peak is not as easy as it might seem as it is oftentimes obscured by clouds, just as it was during all of the other days we were in the area.
As we prepared to head home, however, she gave us a gift of a parting view. At 20,130 feet high, Denali absolutely towers over the surrounding terrain, something that is hard to appreciate. These pictures were taken about 40 miles away and she was still dominating the horizon.
