Quite the handsome looking bird! My wife has a love for pelicans so when we were in California, she was excited to get to see these big birds. We spent a lot of time watching them fly along the coast, skimming the waves, looking for a meal. This one was at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, a cool spot across the highway from the beach. It was lazily swimming along, not minding us one bit, allowing me to get this closeup of it in its colorful breeding plumage.
