Concern for nesting Bald Eagles as Colorado gets hit by snowstorm

Last weekend Bald Eagle parents tend to their eaglets, this weekend worry in the wake of a snowstorm.

These images were taken last Saturday at the nest in Jefferson County, Colorado I have been observing. I am quite certain there was at least one eaglet judging by Mom’s behavior. Dad delivered a rabbit and Mom sure seemed to be feeding it to a little one.

We have been pounded by a snowstorm here over the past 24 hours and I can’t help but be concerned. Word came yesterday that three eaglets at the St Vrain nest about 35 miles away passed away Friday night in the storm.

Unfortunately it won’t be till next weekend that I will be able to get back down and check on these. I am hoping and praying they weathered the storm okay.
