Little escapes the watchful eyes of an owl and their little ones are no different. These three owlets went from half-sleeping to wide awake and staring at me to dozing off again. I am guessing they had full tummies judging by the remnants of their dinner in front of them (likely a rabbit).
Of the Great Horned Owl nests I have been watching this year, these three are the oldest of the offspring in any of them. In the next couple weeks they will start ‘branching’ to other locations in the tree as they test their wings and become more independent.
