Despite the wind and rain, I went and checked on a nearby nest yesterday and much to my surprise, the owlets had branched out. While one remained in the nest, the other three were quite active leaping from branch to branch getting the hang of flying.
This particular one was very brave and hardly sat still for the hour I sat and I watched. It has a lot to learn as there were times it nearly fell and had to flap its wings just to maintain its balance. Certainly the weather conditions didn’t help but they also didn’t seem to bother it one bit. Very soon it will be ready to take flight and leave for good and begin its own journey in life.
