Ah yes, the calendar says winter but signs of spring are to be found in the wildlife world. Last weekend I headed southwest of Denver, Colorado to check out on of my favorite bald eagle nests. The pair gave me quite a show, at times an old-school type peep show. 😉

It was awesome to see the pair giving it a go and certainly I am hoping their mating is successful and we see eaglets in a few months. Longtime followers of this page have seen many pictures from this nest.

Last March, tragedy struck when a monstrous blizzard hit and the male at the nest was killed in the storm. The pair had eggs in the nest at the time but the female simply couldn’t take care of them and keep herself fed so the eggs failed.

Soon after, another male eagle showed up and seemed to take an interest in the female. I don’t know if this is that male or, for that matter, if it is even the same female. Either way, it is great to see a pair taking up the old homesite and potentially making their own family.
